"Panther" XP/2003 is designed to deploy images of Windows XP and Server 2003 to hardware with one or more unknown processors without requiring high priced third party tools or bulky prerequisite software installations.
Current support tools often fail to identify processors correctly because they check the Windows registry for information during Setup instead of inspecting the actual hardware. "Panther" XP/2003 provides a solution adding designated CPU detection to ensure the the correct HAL and kernel are installed.
Install Phases Overview
-
"Panther" XP boots to a Windows PE shell from where the hard disk is configured and the image is transferred to the install partition. Once done the system reboots.
-
The PC boots from the restored Windows XP image. The system processor is scanned to determine what HAL and kernel should be installed. Setup.exe is then launched to detect additional hardware and assign new system IDs.
